Big Bands ... and beyond!

From the depths of the Great Depression came a body of music that provided a much-needed tonic to an ailing nation. Big band sounds were exciting, rhythmical, tap-your-feet, dance-in-the-aisles islands of escape. The good news is that the music didn't end in the 1940s...

Join me as we explore the beginnings of the big band sound, and continue to celebrate the legacy through to modern groups. We'll listen to the bands, to the groups within the bands, and feature the soloists who got their starts in those settings. All this, plus important conversations with musicians, both young and old, who breathe life into the music.

Swingtime - music that lets you feel good!
