1. Charles Bradley | The World (Is Going Up In Flames) | No Time For Dreaming
- This great soul singer who started recording relatively later in his career, sadly passed away on Sept 23rd 2017, aged 68. This is from his first album, released in 2011.
2. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings | What Have You Done For Me Lately? | Dap-Dippin' With Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings
- Another great soul artist who also started recording later in her career, passed away on Nov 18th 2016, aged 60. This cover of a Janet Jackson song is from her first album with the Dap-Kings from 2002.
3. Billy Paul | Am I Black Enough For You? | 360 Degrees Of Billy Paul
- Billy was a great singer with a unique voice who passed away on April 24th 2016, aged 81. He is mainly famous for his song, Me & Mrs Jones but this track from the same album is amazing!
4. James Brown | Funky Drummer [Bonus Beat Reprise] | In The Jungle Groove
- James Brown's' drummer in the late 60s/early 70s period, Clyde Stubblefield, passed away on Feb 18th 2017, aged 73. His drum breakdown in Funky Drummer is one of the most sampled tracks in history. This version was remixed especially for this compilation in 1986 and focuses specifically on that drum break.

5. Prince | Sign O' The Times | Sign O' The Times
- Prince sadly passed away on April 21st 2016, aged 57. There are so many great tracks to choose from but this title track from his 1987 double album has always been a fave.
6. George Michael | Too Funky | Red Hot + Dance [Compilation]
- George sadly passed away on Christmas Day in 2016, aged 53. This tune was released specifically for this compilation in 1992.
7. David Bowie | John, I'm Only Dancing | Single
- David Bowie passed away on Jan 10th 2016, aged 69 which was an extremely sad moment for many people in the music world. This song was released as a non-album single in 1972 and first released on an album on the compilation Changesonebowie in 1976.
8. Jeff Beck | You Know What I Mean | Blow By Blow
- The famed producer, George Martin, passed away on March 8th 2016, aged 90. He is best known as the producer for The Beatles but I thought I'd play something he produced for another artist and this 1975 album for Jeff Beck is wonderful.
9. David Axelrod | Holy Thursday | Song Of Innocence
- David Axelrod passed away on Feb 5th 2017 aged 85. He produced many records for the likes of Lou Rawls and The Electric Prunes before launching his own solo career. This is from his debut album, released in 1968.

10. Can | Halleluhwah | Tago Mago
- Can's drummer, Jaki Liebezeit, passed away on Jan 22nd 2017, aged 78. He is known as one of the most influential drummers of all time and this shows on this incredible 18 minute track from Can's 1971 album.

11. Soundgarden | Rusty Cage | Badmotorfinger
- Soundgarden's lead vocalist and guitarist, Chris Cornell, passed away on May 18th 2017, aged 52. This great tune is from Soundgarden's 3rd album, released in 1991.
12. Stone Temple Pilots | Vasoline | Purple
- The Stone Temple Pilots' lead vocalist, Scott Weiland, passed away on Dec 3rd 2015, aged 48. This was released on the band's 2nd album from 1994.
13. Motörhead | Ace Of Spades | Ace Of Spades
- The lead vocalist and bassist from Motorhead, Lemmy, passed away on Dec 28th 2015, aged 70. They had many great songs but it's hard to go past this one which is probably the song most associated with the group.
14. Dead Moon | Walking On My Grave | Defiance
- Dead Moon's lead singer and guitarist, Fred Cole, passed away on Nov 9th 2017, aged 69. This is taken from their 3rd album, released in 1990. Tune in to Sunglasses After Dark tonight from 8pm where there will be a Fred Cole tribute featuring Studio 5 Live sets from Pierced Arrows in 2008 and Fred & Toody Cole in 2016.
15. AC/DC | Live Wire | T.N.T.
- AC/DC's rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young passed away on Nov 18th 2017, aged 64. This is from their 2nd Australian album, released in 1975.

16. Flash & The Pan | Hey, St. Peter | Flash & The Pan
- Flash & The Pan's vocalist and musician, George Young, passed away on Oct 22nd 2017, aged 70. He was also a member of The Easybeats and with Harry Vanda, he went on to write and produce many hit singles for Albert Records in the 1970s. They also produced the first 5 albums for AC/DC which included his younger brothers Malcolm & Angus.
17. The Easybeats | Sorry | Volume 3
- The Easybeats lead vocalist, Stevie Wright passed away on Dec 27th 2015, aged 68. This is one of their greatest songs which was released in 1966.
18. Chuck Berry | No Particular Place To Go | St. Louis To Liverpool
- Chuck Berry passed away on March 18th 2017, aged 90. He was one of the first Rock 'n' Roll musicians and this great 1964 single was one of his last big hits.
19. Fats Domino | Blue Monday | Single
- Fats passed away on Oct 24th 2017, aged 89. Fats was another who was associated with the first Rock 'n' Roll movement. This was a great single released in 1956.
20. Elvis Presley | Mystery Train | Single
- Elvis' lead guitarist during his Sun Records and early RCA period, Scotty Moore, passed away on June 28th 2016, aged 84. His guitar style influenced a generation of rock of guitarists. This was Elvis' 5th single released on the Sun label in 1955.

21. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers | American Girl | Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
- Tom Petty passed away on Oct 2nd 2017, aged 66. This classic is taken from their debut album, released in 1976.
22. Leon Russell | Tight Rope | Carney
- Leon Russell passed away on Nov 13th 2016, aged 74. This is from his 3rd solo album, released in 1972.
23. The Allman Brothers Band | Midnight Rider | Idlewild South
- The Allman Brothers Band's keyboard player and vocalist, Gregg Allman, passed away on May 27th 2017, aged 69. This is from their 2nd album, released in 1970.
24. Leonard Cohen | Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye | Songs Of Leonard Cohen
- Leonard Cohen passed away on Nov 7th 2016, aged 82. This is from his debut album, released in 1967.
