Omelette play an eclectic mix of music – from African folk songs, to reggae and jazz-influenced grooves and original compositions that serve as vehicles for collectively improvised explorations. The members of Omelette have shared musical histories, having played in various bands in Melbourne over the past 15 years and created Omelette to continue what they love to do – play improvised music. Over time, Omelette have developed an intimate understanding and sensibility of each other’s playing, which often results in freely improvised pieces taking on song-like qualities.
