It’s nine years on and the So Frenchy party is showing no signs of slowing down…

A successful series of music compilations that has sold over 160,000, So Frenchy has evolved and developed with scores of live gigs, an SBS program and now an annual festival, held at Werribee Mansion in January.

Dubbed “the unofficial soundtrack of the Alliance Française French Film Festival”, the annual double-album compilation has also become the unofficial soundtrack to growing number of Australian summers, road trips and outdoor parties.

The ultimate French playlist knows no musical boundaries, covering ground ranging from bulletproof pop, gypsy jazz and 80s synth-driven numbers through to beautiful, melancholic chanson and a five-piece hip-hop group form Bordeaux with a seamless flow.

While some names may be familiar to Francophile music fans, it’s the emerging names that make this year’s compilation one to catch. Names such as Lou Doillon, Féloche, Lescop, Mai Lan are being heard in France, now it’s Australia’s turn to hear who’s hot in the French music universe for another year.
