Latin Connection

Mick Williams - Johnston Street
Presented by Mick Williams
This programme has been archived.

The Latin Connection, as the name suggests attempts to create a link between the abundance of Latins here in Melbourne and their place of birth, this is why the music is community based. The program also caters for anyone interested in Latin music in general. As an English language program, it also provides an opportunity for non-latins to find out about the backgrounds of artists and their music.

From the polyrhythmic drum beats of Brazil to the panflutes of the Andes. From the 50's mambo dancehalls of Havana to contemporary Latin Jazz. A wide range of music is played on the show, including salsa, samba, merengue, cumbia, flamenco, Latin jazz, Spanish pop and rock, son, and music from the Caribbean, just to name a few styles.
